Soft pastel is the most tender material in the studio: pigment in chalk, rubbed with the fingertips into velvet clouds of colour. Your cat is set down in broad, blended planes — the fur colours melting softly into each other, the markings as a darker cloud, the eyes two clear, unblended touches in their true colour — on tinted pastel paper that shows through everywhere. No line, no single hair. Dreamy, warm and very soft on the wall.
