The memorial portrait
For the cat who is no longer here
To lose a cat is to lose a housemate. The basket is tidied away, the bowl disappears into a cupboard — and somewhere on a phone is the photo you open again and again.
From that photo we make a memorial portrait. Not a fleeting keepsake, but a work in pigment ink on Hahnemühle 308 g/m² cotton paper, made to carry the memory for years. You see the portrait before you settle anything, and you decide in your own time whether it is right.
Often the dearest memory is not a perfect photograph. Send it in all the same: we judge every submission honestly, and tell you just as honestly when a photo offers too little to hold for a good portrait.
A place of its own
Beside the urn, or above the old basket
Some hang the portrait above the spot where the basket stood; others set it beside the urn, or give it as a parting gift to those left behind. There is no right form — there is only your form.
In your own time. The atelier waits patiently.
