Charcoal Study

A bolder study in which charcoal takes the lead.

A bolder, darker portrait in which charcoal takes the lead. The animal is built up from rich dark tones, soft smudges, powdery shadow and expressive contrast. The eyes and nose stand firm, while the rest of the fur is suggested more in strokes and masses. This is a more dramatic and artistic portrait than the Graphite Study: more depth, more character, and a clearly tangible drawing technique.
