Behind the scenes

How your cat portrait is made

Three acts between your photograph and the wall. We are glad to show them — an atelier proud of its workbench has nothing to hide.

I

The submission

One photograph is enough, as long as the face is sharp and the light is reasonable. We review every submission beforehand — if we have doubts, we ask for another photograph rather than make a middling portrait.

II

The composition

The portrait is built up in your chosen style from your photograph and reviewed by us for likeness, light and fur. You see the result before you pay for anything.

III

The printing

We print with pigment ink on Hahnemühle Photo Rag: 100% cotton paper at 308 g/m². A proof print, calibrated monitors and a hand check on every sheet — archival paper forgives nothing, which is exactly why we work with it.

The unveiling
